Besides Milli Vanilli, who are your choices for the worst Best New Artist winners in Grammy history?

Bon Iver’s win was absolutely great. He’s brilliant and besides, who tf else were they gonna give it to? Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, The Band Perry?   Bye.

    Anyway…

To me, the Zac Brown Band is one of the best. In my opinion, Shelby Lynne, Carrie Underwood, and Amy Winehouse are the worst.

God bless you and the ZBB always!!!

Amy Winehouse?  The worst?  Honey, some of you posters are cray-cray.

    My picks:

    Marc Cohn
    Paula Cole
    Christopher Cross
    fun.
    Shelby Lynne
    Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

^^^ To me, that award that went to Amy should have gone to Taylor Swift.

God bless you and Taylor always!!!

I’m probably the “Taylor Swift Fan” of this site but Amy Winehouse at the time had the win on lock and with good reason. In hindsight Taylor was the Best New Artist but they get it wrong sometimes but Amy was such a amazing talent I just wish she would of got another album out. God Bless her. But the worst was probably Esperanza Spalding over Justin Biber and Bon Iver over Skrillex. #kidding

I know the question asks “Besides Milli Vanilli,” but I really want to vent about the fact that the award was only vacated and not given to another nominee.  The other nominees were deserving of the award (Indigo Girls, Soul II Soul, even Neneh Cherry in all her one-hit wonderdom), so it was a chance to reward an artist who actually did things right.

    As for other bad winners:

I have nothing against A Taste of Honey, but the fact that they beat Elvis Costello and–one of my all time faves–The Cars is laughable.  Hell, even Toto, who would go on to win so many Grammys, would’ve been a more deserving winner.

Same with Christopher Cross and Marc Cohn.  Nothing against them (I actually like “Walking in Memphis”), but I really wish The Pretenders and anybody else nominated, respectively, had won instead.

As somebody who doesn’t listen to country music, I can’t say anything about the Zac Brown Band winning, though I will say that they were probably the safest choice that year (that was the year of Gaga-gate, right?).  I love The Ting Tings, but they had no shot; at least ZBB is still doing well on the country charts.

Oh, and of course Starland Vocal Band.  No explanation needed.

P.S.:  Nobody better say Arrested Development. Thank goodness they had no real competition.
