Which do you love? Which of the films do you despise? What did I forget?
* Special mention goes to October Sky, The Green Mile, The Iron Giant, Sleepy Hollow, Election, Magnolia, Titus, Topsy-Turvy,
1) The Sixth Sense
2) Toy Story 2
3) Being John Malkovich
4) The Talented Mr. Ripley
5) The Insider
6) American Beauty
7) Fight Club
8) The Mummy
9) South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut
10) The Matrix
I always look at this as one of the best recent years for film. Even the ones not on the main list are great, innovative achievements. I went with Fight Club, but it’s an absolute Toss-up.

It’s The Matrix for me. I love that film. The story, the characters and performances, the action, the cinematography. Made me keep tabs on Wachowski projects. It’s probably the best original sci-fi film since its release.
I voted “Being John Malkovich”, but my favorite film of 1999 was “Election.”
“The Sixth Sense” & “The Talented Mr. Ripley” would come just after Malkovich.
From this list it would be
1. American Beauty
2. Toy Story 2
3. Being John Malkovich
4. The Insider
5. The Talented Mr. Ripely
But other highlights from that year were Election, Tarzan, The Green Mile, 10 Things I Hate About You, Boys Don’t Cry, and The Cider House Rules
