I’m currently working on my rank for my site about this year’s nominees so I’m very curious about your opinion!

Who deserved the Oscar? Witherspoon’s award is really one of the worst in the category?

The only actress in this category who I can say I’m a fan of is Charlize, but she doesn’t deserve an Oscar for that film.

I’m not a fan of Felicity Huffman (at all) but that performance was amazing and deserved an Oscar.

I’m watching Transamerica right now and it’s spectacular! Beautiful performances by both Huffman and Zegers! And I also like the movie itself. When I watched it a long time ago I didn’t like it as much as I like it now.

This year easily takes the cake for the worst lineups in Best Actress (2003 in 2nd place) and worst years for actress performances in general. If I were to break it down:

Judi Dench: Love her dearly, but she had no business being nominated.
Felicity Hoffman: Admire her efforts, but she was very unconvincing as a tranny and Transameria is one of the worst films I have ever seen.
Keira Knightly: Give me a goddamn break.
Reese Witherspoon: Was just good not great. Should’ve won in supporting where she belonged.

So my vote goes to the woman that never lets me down; Miss Charlize Theron!

Huffman. And I don’t know what are you talking about. She was a perfect tranny. Convincing and breathtaking!

You haven’t seen a lot of movies, don’t you? I mean it’s one thing that you disliked the film but come on! It’s far away from one of the worst.

Huffman.. I think the film itself is more interesting than it’ll ever get credit for.

I watched Theron’s performance again today.

It’s pretty strong but not stronger than Huffman’s. But she definitely deserved this nomination.

I haven’t seen Mrs. Henderson Presents before but I did watch it today.

It was perfect in every single way. Dench was superb! What an underrated film and performance! (people usually say that Dench’s nomination is a waste of time…well they’re wrong…)

It wasn’t a weak year at all. Huffman & Theron & Dench were all strong. Tomorow I’ll re-watch Knightley and Witherspoon and soon I’ll make my rank.

Right now Huffman in my number one choice following by Dench and Theron (right now they are both in the second place couse I can’t choose between them yet).

Knightley for me stands out in this very weak field. Very charming performance in movie that’s vastly superior to the other films nominated here.
