Yes, the controversial Mel Gibson is next. Which field do you think Gibson excelled the most in?

    Here are the statistics:
1/1 Oscar wins for Best Director
1/1 Oscar wins for Best Picture

Please feel free to give reasons for your choices below

Acting. No doubt about it. “The Road Warrior” is awesome.

I’ll go with acting but I thought Apocalypto showed some promise.. Braveheart was very paint by numbers, its no wonder it won BP.

He is dreadful at both acting and directing. He is most excellent at being a raging alcoholic, an abuser. And most especially an anti Semite…..he is a totally despicable person not worthy of a thought,

Poor Mel. I did love him in those Mad Max films. And gawd, he looks gorgeous in that remake of that famous mutiny on The Bounty. As a director, well, I’ve come to appreciate Braveheart a tad more. Those orchestrated battle scenes are among the best. Clearly the guy wasnt interested in historical accuracy, but as a film, I’ve now upgraded it to pretty OK.

I guess I’ll take his acting. He’s done far more of that. His personal life and personal demons, is the area he needs to work on the most imho.

He is not a dreadful actor or director. You’re only saying that because you don’t like him as a person.

I have never really cared for a lot of the films he directed, and as an actor, he has been good and/or serviceable in the parts (Lethal Weapon, Signs, Mad Max, Ransom, etc….), so I would say Actor, but I would never consider nominated him for an Oscar for either Acting or Directing.

Neither.  Although I did like “The Road Warrior” and thought he was sexy as hell in it.  I hated “Braveheart” and still can’t fathom how it won over “Apollo 13.”

He is a terrible actor but his direction in Passion of the Christ and The Patriot is amazing. Braveheart is overrated though
