This was an impressive group of nominees. But, its a no-brainer, as I choose Dustin Hoffman for Midnight Cowboy. Dustin Hoffman had arguably his best performance of his career in Midnight Cowboy. Voight is a close second, Burton is third, Wayne is fourth, and O’Toole is fifth.
This was Jon Voight’s award.
The above 2 are the only real options. Hoffman way ahead of Voight.
Jon Voight should’ve won this.
This is just the type of hammy schtick I hate from Hoffman.
Hoffman for me, though Voight would have been a great choice.
IN THIS ORDER..
1. Jon Voight
2. Dustin Hoffman
3. John Wayne
4. Peter O’Toole
5. Richard Burton
Nope, to me it’s Wayne all the way.
I think that O’Toole had a career deserving of a win, and it should have come for Lion in Winter. From an overdue perspective, it should have been his.

I remember watching True Grit knowing that he had won the Oscar for this, and inwardly guffawing. After I watched it, my mouth fell open. I voted for him.
Everyone is stellar in this lineup. Voight, Hoffman.
