After I watched all of the performances I was shocked that Colin Firth wasn’t more of a threat to Jeff Bridges. He is definitely my favorite in the lineup.
Colin Firth was brilliant in A Single Man
but I think the academy already knew he was
playing a stuttering monarch the following year
and thats more Oscar baity anyway…Bridges
is fabulous in crazy heart and was deserving.
Clooney was stella r as well, Renner did a fine job.
Freeman was the nomination I think was undeserving…
It’s a tough choice for me, but Renner gets it (narrowly besting Firth). It’s incredible that Sam Rockwell couldn’t get in for Moon.
Sam Rockwell for Moon was so much better than any of these. None of the nominees are really deserving and Bridges should have won the next year for True Grit.
I would’ve voted for Jeremy Renner. His performance, combined with the work of a great director, led to a strong investigation of character and a great performance. That scene when he has to tell the man who has the bomb locked onto him that he cannot help him and must leave is particularly impressive and heartbreakingly conveyed by Renner. As well as the scene with his son at the end. Glad this performance put him on the map–Best Actor is a notoriously difficult category for younger/new actors to break into as well.
Definitely Jeremy Renner. Disliked the rest of the nominees, especially the victor.
Bridges was amazing
FIRTH!!! By a wide margin, although everyone was at least very good.
Bridges was superb. Firth and Renner were good too.
Clooney was ok and Freeman.. why???
Sam Rockwell should have been nominated.
