1-Bridges(I LOVE This performance)
2-Firth(He should have won for A Single Man)
5-FrancoJuly 31, 2014 at 9:52 am #548789
Bardem!!!July 31, 2014 at 10:35 am #548790
I really loved Jesse’s performance the most. Doing a Sorkin character is hard work and Jesse really nailed it the whole movie. Firth of course was great too he was my 2nd. Franco 3rd for the pysical and emotional performance, Bridges who I usually love just was eh in True Grit. I think he overdid it. I still have not seen Biutiful I have been meaning to thoughJuly 31, 2014 at 10:40 am #548791
Jesse because he played a billion dollar jerk so well.July 31, 2014 at 11:48 am #548792
Colin Firth by default.July 31, 2014 at 1:07 pm #548793
Jesse Eisenberg because the entire film is him being an asshole, talking fast, and of course a Sorkin character. Firth did well but Jesse was just so good in TSN!July 31, 2014 at 3:39 pm #548794
Jesse.July 31, 2014 at 4:04 pm #548795
James Franco. I really love the film, and it was easily the most charismatic performance of the lot.

Jeff Bridges for me was the best. Jesse was good but a bit overrated for me.July 31, 2014 at 5:50 pm #548797
This was Firth’s year for sure. His performance was what really elevated the film, and went beyond just stuttering.

I’d go with Eisenberg at the moment but haven’t seen Bardem.August 3, 2014 at 5:03 pm #548799
This is an overall really good category IMO. The only one I didn’t feel strongly about in a positive way was Eisenberg. His performance was not all that special for me, the character by way of the script seemed more interesting than the living, breathing character.
I ended up voting for Franco, but could have just as easily selected any of the nominees expect for Eisenberg.August 6, 2014 at 12:21 pm #548800
I haven’t seen Bardem, but out of the four perf I’ve seen Colin was the best by far IMOAugust 6, 2014 at 1:32 pm #548801
I haven’t seen Biutiful yet, but I’ve been meaning to. My current rankings of them are:
To be honest, while I did think Franco was solid in 127 Hours, I really don’t think it was a nomination-worthy performance. There were other actors who deserved it more, like Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter, Stephen Dorff in Somewhere, and probably Ryan Gosling in Blue Valentine and Paul Giamatti in Barney’s Version (I haven’t seen those two though).
