Helen Mirren could be this years’ Greer Garson ala Sunrise at Campobello. Big biopic of a celebrated man. Male actor snubbed while actress playing wife is nominated and a very clear front runner.

`I went with Melina Mercouri. From this group her perf is the one I remember best, although all of them gave great perfs imo

There is something awesome about Elizabeth Taylor as the quasi-call girl in BUtterfield 8, so she gets my vote.

I also really like Wendy Hiller/Sons and Lovers.

Jean Simmons gets my vote…she was so robbed of a nomination.  Judy Holliday & Wendy Hiller were also robbed actually…I would have nominated those 3 instead of Taylor, Garson & Mercouri.  Of the actual nominees MacLaine by a smidge over Kerr.

SHIRLEY MACLAINE  gets my vote..a stunning performance of comic timing
mixed with heartbreaking drama…a tour de force…she shouldve won but
Liz had the sympathy vote and after 4 straight nominations.. the academy couldnt
resist giving her the oscar for a good performance in a terrible film…

I agree Taylor was good but was in an awful film. She should have won for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
    Shirley Maclaine all the way!

Shirley MacLaine should have won her Oscar here and not for Terms of Endearment.

Completey agree. I’ve always supported her win despite it being generally thought of as one of the worst decisions in Oscar history.
