The year of the tie! it’s the year of the historic tie between hepburn and streisand for the best actress trophy. is the tie righful? or if it isn’t, who do you think should’ve won the trophy alone?
Not a bad tie at all…but I went with a solo Streisand…the truth communicated in her singing this character is divine. Streisand may not have as good a range as an actress as she does as a singer, but this role is so perfect for her (like YENTL) there is no notice of it whatsoever.
I think Hepburn is great in this film for sure, but (like SOPHIE’S CHOICE) I don’t regard it as the abosulte best among one of the absolute best screen icon’s ever.
Matter of fact I flip flop Hepburn with Redgrave for 2nd place often. Rounding out the top 5 are Woodward at 4th & Neal at 5th. Both giving solidly good performances.
Hepburn. I thought Streisand was far superior and win-worthy in The Way We Were.
The performance of HEPBURN’S magnificent career….no doubt about that.
STREISAND deserved the oscar ALONE……IMO
oh, and mia farrow was totally snubbed for a nomination for her role as rosemary in rosemary’s baby
but i imagined it was even too hard for her to be nominated, let alone to win, in a really competitive year like this that will eventually ended with a tie
