1. Sissy Spacek
2. Faye Dunaway
3. Liv Ullmann
4. Marie-Chistine Barrault
5. Talia Shire
“Well Max, here we are: Middle-aged man reaffirming his middle-aged
manhood, and a terrified young woman with a father complex. What sort of
script do you think we can make out of this?”
words are Chayefsky’s, but the delivery is pure Dunaway. Yes, she was
overdue after “Bonnie & Clyde” and “Chinatown,” but rarely has an
overdue nominee been so forceful in the role that finally won her the
FAYE all the way!
one of the best actress win from my favorite drama movie!
I’d say Faye Dunaway…..it is honestly the best role she had that was suited to hear neurotic tendencies.
Sissy Spacek and Liv Ullman were also both wonderful.
Marie Christine Barrault was solid but not amazing.
Talia Shire had no business being here. She probably would’ve won in Supporting, but either way, I wouldn’t have wanted her to win….plus her dour expression to losing doesn’t help.
I’d say Dunnaway as well, but I would love to see Liv Ullman with an Oscar.
It kills me not to go with Spacek…
3. Dunaway – wonderful but a little overrated IMO.
Ullmann, but Dunaway was excellent too.
