The first of three times where a Fellini film got the lone director spot.
Hands down Fellini, though all nodded did admirable jobs. I’m not really a fan of WEST SIDE STORY, although I love the broadway score by Bernstein & lyrics by Sondheim. The film’s direction of the camera and it’s choreography is outstanding. The pacing of the story and direction of the actors is not so admirable IMO.
1. Fellini – La Dolce Vita
2. Rossen – The Hustler
3. Kramer – Judgment At Nuremberg
4. Robbins & Wise – West Side Story
5. Thompson – The Guns of Navarone
