Who was your favorite landslide winner of Lead Actor – someone who won the GG, SAG, BAFTA and Oscar?
1. DDL (There Will Be Blood)
3. DDL (Lincoln)
I never understood the overwhelming wave for Jamie Foxx back in 2004-5. I was pulling for Clint Eastwood that year, and was happy he was nominated after being overlooked in the preliminary awards (and basically for his entire acting career). Like Sean Connery, he has an incredible screen presence and charisma that just didn’t translate to many Academy Award nominations for great roles. Meryl Streep said many of the actors she worked with were most intimidated by Clint. He just has something that is magnetic and makes it look easy. So when I saw Million Dollar Baby, Clint really sold that performance and I wanted him to finally get recognized for his acting. Truly a legendary figure in American movies…as a star, an actor, a director, and producer.
Hoffman all the way, no doubt about it. What he did in that movie goes beyond reason haha, it makes me loss for words. It a shame he didn´t also sweep for the master, another brilliant thing he did.
DDL – There Will Be Blood.
DDL for There Will Be Blood
I seriously considered Hoffman and Rush as well.
I also voted for DDL in There will be Blood.
I’m in the minority who has Dujardin as #2 I’m sure.
Jamie Foxx, Ray
