Circle of Life, not only for being a unique and great song, but for being paired with that magnificent opening sequence that ranks up there with the best in cinema.
My favorite song from The Lion King is only in the stage version. It’s “King of Pride Rock.” However the score for that song is in the movie. It’s a beautiful score that appears towards the end of the film…does that count?
Can You Feel The Love Tonight.
“Circle Of Life”
“Circle of Life”
In terms of the cinematic presentation of the songs: Definitely Circle of Life. Incredible opening to the movie. Probably one of my favorites for a Disney movie, along with the prologue of Beauty and the Beast.
But with regard to the song itself. I think Can You Feel The Love Tonight is the best song in the movie.
Of all the songs from The Lion King soundtrack, I prefer the version of “Circle of Life” that opened the film. I think the Elton John version that became a hit single doesn’t even compare to the opening version.
The Elton John version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was a bigger hit, and better recording than his version of “Circle of Life,” and was arguably better than the version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” that was used during the film.
I think it was the Elton John recordings that swayed voters away from “Circle of Life” and towards “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” at the Oscars.
My vote goes to “Circle of Life”, but of coure movie version. Definitely the best in the movie. For me “Hakuna Matatha” comes in second and very good “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in third. “Be Prepared” was fine but not in the leauge of first three, and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” is only song i didn’t like.
I know all the words to “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” becuase I watched that movie so much as a kid but my vote went with Hakuna Matata becuase it’s so damn catchy.
