I’m assuming this is for best performance.

Beatrice Straight was riveting in her tiny scene. Much like Viola Davis in Doubt. Easy choice.

Sylvia Miles is the queen of this thing. Her two Oscar nominations are for ”cameo performances”. In ”Midnight Cowboy” she’s appears for six minutes, and in ”Farewell, My Lovely” she’s there for eight lol

    Straight was WONDERFUL.

Lupita Nyong’o was a cameo too right?

Straight was great in one scene, and it is definitely a cameo performance. She got my vote.

Lee Grant easily. One of the best nominated performances ever. I don’t remember it being that short though but I haven’t seen the film for years.

My first thought when I saw this thread was Sylvia Miles because, as it has already been said, she managed this twice! However, she is certainly not getting my vote as I did not find her in the least bit worthy of a nomination for either film.

Isn’t Hermoine Baddeley the record holder for shortest nominated performance ever? It is something to the effect of 3 minutes long, if even that!

I know you only had ten slots to fill but I want to give a shout-out to another brief cameo of a performance that was nominated: Carolyn Jones in The Bachelor Party. A very brief performance but memorable at that.

As for Jane Alexander, I do think she was more of a cameo in All The President’s Men than in Kramer vs. Kramer…and she was much better in the latter anyway.

I do think Beatrice Straight will get my vote for her big scene, with Davis and Grant right behind her.
