No contest for me. Ralph Fiennes should have won the Oscar for his truly evil performance. An absolutely despicable character to contrast with the white knight of Liam Neeson.

No contest Fiennes.  Only Robert Shaw in JAWS could give Ralph competition had he been nominated as he should have!!!

Don’t get me started on Robert Shaw, his monologue about the USS Indianapolis was, well perfection. Ralph Fiennes has delivered time and time again.. Some times in big epics (Schindler’s List), some times in smaller independent films (Spider), but I am NEVER bored by his choices..

Goldberg was good, but better in GHOST, for which she rightly won the Oscar.

Ralph Fiennes is clearly the best here.

It is an outrage that so many lesser talents have won Oscars, and Ralph Fiennes still has NONE.

AllAboutOscars….only considered those previously nominated for Spielberg films. And there’s no way that Field and Jones are the best among a list so diverse as the one above.

    1. Ralph Fiennes, Schindler’s List
    2. Whoopi Goldberg, The Color Purple
    3. Christopher Walken, Catch Me If You Can
    4. Liam Neeson, Schindler’s List
    5. Melinda Dillon, Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    6. Oprah Winfrey, The Color Purple
    7. Margaret Avery, The Color Purple
    8. Anthony Hopkins, Amistad
    9. Tom Hanks, Saving Private Ryan
