The only time a Shakespeare adaptation has won. Was John Huston’s film unjustly overlooked?

Yes it was!!!  The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is without doubt the finest film in the bunch and the best of 1948 irregardless of the Oscars!!!  I do think HAMLET was a fine film though as they all were.  THE SNAKE PIT had some great moments but is very weak and very dated compared to the other 4.  My 2nd through 4th rankings could all be rearranged.

    1. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
    2. The Red Shoes
    3. Johnny Belinda
    4. Hamlet
    5. The Snake Pit
