I think this is a hard choice. I am not overly in love with any of these, but I guess I would still vote for THE DEER HUNTER because it did have a strong impact, particularly with the performance/arc involving the downfall of Christopher Walken’s character Nicky.

In terms of the Vietnam movies, I also greatly preferred Deer Hunter to Coming Home, which I remember not caring for and I remember feeling Jane Fonda’s Oscar was very undeserved especially with the likes of Jill Clayburgh and Ingrid Bergman and Geraldine Page….and Ellen Burstyn in the category. Jon Voight was worthy though.

Speaking of Jill Clayburgh, An Unmarried Woman was also quite good and a very underrated film.

Midnight Express falls into a category of films that were almost to painful to watch and that unfairly affects me. Also, it has been over 10 years since I have seen it so I should try to view it again.

Heaven Can Wait was a charming film, certainly good and entertaining but definitely not Best Picture winner material.

    #1-The Deer Hunter
    #2-An Unmarried Woman
    #3-Midnight Express
    #4-Heaven Can Wait
    #5-Coming Home

I haven’t seen An Unmarried Woman but my ranking goes

    1. Midnight Express
    2. Coming Home
    3. Heaven Can Wait
    4. The Deer Hunter

The Deer Hunter is a good movie but one that bored me. Coming Home had my attention the whole time
