Everybody seems to hate Gooding Jr.’s win but nobody seems to agree on an alternative.
Macy and Norton are the strongest here, imo.May 11, 2013 at 12:19 pm #544502
Macy and Norton are the best without a doubt…

What a mess. Cuba was quite good, but there are quite a few performances I’d prefer.
This should have been Buscemi’s year, IMHO. Carl Showalter was a perfect utilization of his quick-talking, deadpan snark.
As it stands, I’m so tempted to go with Macy, but I find him to be a lead in Fargo. In that case, I’d go with Norton, who had an incredible year in 1996 and was absolutely stunning.May 11, 2013 at 1:01 pm #544504
Gooding was sexy but theres nothing beyond that. JM was god awful.
Norton without a doubt.May 11, 2013 at 4:10 pm #544505

Edward Norton. On Gooding, he did win the SAG that year, which means that his performance was more respected by actors, which probably gave him the win.May 12, 2013 at 8:17 am #544508

Even though William H. Macy is basically a co-lead of sorts who sets off the entire action, he is far and away the best one here and gets my vote.
I also really liked Stahl and thought Norton was good but I barely remember him.
Gooding Jr was fun but it wasn’t Oscar worthy work.
Woods was fine, but nothing special.May 21, 2013 at 11:55 am #544513
Definitely Norton.September 14, 2013 at 7:02 pm #544514
I was torn between Macy and Gooding. I ended up voting for Gooding with Macy a very close second.
