people say clooney was undeserved.i didnt see his performance so i cant judge.
from the others i love giamatti work
I thought Clooney was great in SYRIANA, one of the few great things about the film. However, Dillon was the best of the bunch…another case of someone being one of the few great things about a film.
I didn’t especially like Syriana, but Clooney was fantastic. It’s probably his best role to date.
Come participate in this year's Goldderby Rankings! http://www.goldderby.com/forum/movies/2017-goldderby-rankings/
Need to see 3 of them, lol, but Gyllenhall was terrific and would have made a strong winner, he or Dillon.
I am surprised by those liking George Clooney! That is the first I have seen it on this site! For me, he is one of the worst winners of this category, up there with George Chakiris, Jack Palance, and Don Ameche.
For me, my ranking is:
#5-George Clooney (he only won for gaining weight and because they wanted to honor him since he wouldn’t win the other categories that night…he even made a comment on it when he won)
This is a very strong year. Any of them would have been a good winner
Dillon got my vote.
Gyllenhaal is outrageous category fraud.
Gyllenhaal gives my favorite performance, but I can’t vote for a clear co-leading performance.
Toss up between Dillon and Giamatti for me. I’ll go Dillon.
I thought this was an unusually weak group. Despite being a co-lead Gyllenhaal didn’t make much of an impression on me, and gave the fourth best perforrnace in that flick. Paul was nominated because of his Sideways snub. Clooney was decent but was nominated and won because of his status and the awards non-success of ‘Goodnight’. Hurt barely did anything in ‘Violence’. Dillon was by far the best thing about Crash, which isn’t saying much, but it was a solid performance and arc.
The unnominated Jeff Daniels in The Squid and the Whale.
Of the nominees, Matt Dillon.
