Bale was utterly deserving of this. Rush may have won without Bale in the race, but I think Ruffalo had a pretty good shot.

Andrew Garfiled was robbed of a nomination and win for “The Social Network”. Bale has been better in other movies and wasn’t anything special in The Fighter. Jeremy Renner was my favorite this year becuase 1. he was really good 2. he was the only nomination for The Town and that was ridiculous. Rush is 2nd

    Andrew Garfield!
    Out of this list, Bale

This was tougher for me than I thought, but I went with John Hawkes. Each nominee I feel deserved to be there and in such different roles. I wouldnt drop anyone to make room for someone else (well, maybe not), and especially not for Garfield. His talent was obvious in Boy A and in his cameo in Lions for Lambs, but not in TSN. Imo only Jesse Eisenberg deserved the mention.

Hawkes is so menacing, so believable. Great work from him.

    Bale easily.
Very strong lineup actually although I have no idea how Renner got in, especially over Garfield.

I don’t even remember him in ‘The Town’.

    1 – Bale

    2 – Ruffallo

    3 – Hawkes

    4 – Rush

    5 – Renner

Jeremy Renner made the most of a cliched character and following up on his previous nomination it didnt surprise me. Renner is the only memorable perf in the film aside from the incredibly bad “boiled egg” appearance of that blonde who I’ve caught acting each and every time. I’m not sure I would have given Renner a nomination either, but he far from ‘stank’.

ETA: great to see those votes for Geoffrey! He’s so cool.

From the actual list, I went with Christian Bale. But my personal choice would’ve been Ben Mendelsohn for Animal Kingdom.

Should of been nominated and won Andrew Garfield. Out of the five Christian Bale who did knock it out of the park in the fighter.

Blake Lively was the best thing about the whole film. In fact she’s the only thing I remember. Have no recollection of what the plot was at all but she was great.

Good category.  Wish I had liked THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT more, because I am a super fan of Ruffalo’s.  Bale and Hawkes really fought for my top spot.  Rush and Renner did fine work.

    1. Christian Bale, THE FIGHTER
    2. John Hawkes, WINTER’S BONE
    3. Mark Ruffalo, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
    4. Geoffrey Rush, THE KING’S SPEECH
    5. Jeremy Renner, THE TOWN

Blake Lively was the best thing about the whole film

edit: I forgot to answer the actual question… I don’t remember Hawkes, in fact I don’t remember anything from that movie. since I turned off The Town after half an hour or so due to Blake Lively’s embarassing acting I can’t judge Renner’s performance. Ruffalo and Rush both gave great performances, but Bale was simply amazing so I’m gonna vote for him
