I kind of think this one should belong to Glenn.March 22, 2013 at 12:40 pm #543361
Lange, easily. Here’s how you know she deserved it:
No one else could’ve pulled off her Marilyn Monroe-esque part, but she could’ve certainly pulled off everyone else’s part easily, save Kim Stanley’s. At that point, she’d have to wait quite a few years to play Farmer’s wife, but by now I think everyone knows she would’ve done that part more than justice, too (see “Prozac Nation”).March 22, 2013 at 12:48 pm #543362
I am okay with Lange winning but she wasn’t my favorite in this category….which seems like an insult but this was honestly a VERY strong set of women.
I would actually vote for Teri Garr because she added so much to what could have been a very thankless part (same could be said for Lange).
Glenn Close was lovely, Lesley Ann Warren was the spark of Victor/Victoria (should have been a BP nominee), and Kim Stanley was very good (maybe my choice for 5th place).Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantMarch 22, 2013 at 2:11 pm #543363

Same here.March 22, 2013 at 2:34 pm #543364
Glenn Close in a landslide…. The woman shouldve had an oscar the first time out!!!!March 22, 2013 at 6:44 pm #543365
This is a tough category and I would have loved to see the vote totals.
I would have put Jessica Lange in 5th place. The next 4 get very tough because my rankings do change periodically of 4th to 1rst place. My vote would have gone to either Glenn Close or Kim Stanley.March 22, 2013 at 8:17 pm #543366
Lange was my #1 choice for lead in 82.March 23, 2013 at 8:48 am #543367
Lange was the weakest link here.
5. LangeMarch 23, 2013 at 3:34 pm #543368
1 – Warren
2 – Stanley
3 – Garr
4 – Close
5 – Lange
Lesley Ann Warren completely stole the show in Victor/Victoria. A fabulous performance.
Stanley and Garr are both great.
I remember almost nothing about Close despite seeing the film twice.
Lange’s part could have been played by absolutely anyone. A completely ridiculous win which was an obvious make up for not getting the Best Actress award.March 26, 2013 at 1:03 am #543369
Jessica Lange did not deserve this award. Garr gave a stronger performance in the same movie.
I consider Lange’s win as one of the worst in the category.
Lange fanboy(s) made Lange to win this poll. How awkward.November 9, 2013 at 6:11 am #543370
Close or Stanley should have taken this. I love Jessica and she’s terrific in Tootsie but she has to wait until 1994 before I find her to be the best in her category.
