As awardskel has followed my first thread with similar pairings, only supporting players has remained. Only 8 of them. Which one you find the most deserving of the honor?
For me, it comes down between Malden/Hunter, Johnson/Leachman, and Caine/Wiest.
I will go with Malden/Hunter as that whole foursome in general was absolutely stellar.
As for the other two pairings I singled out, Johnson was just simply Sam…no wonder Peter Bogdonavich fought so hard to get him. Then Leachman, who spent the whole movie doing good work, came in right at the end just in time to leave an impression on you.
Hannah and Her Sisters is one of, if not my favorite Woody Allen movie. I am not so sure if Michael Caine should have won in Supporting (I would have pushed him for Lead) and then Dianne Wiest had a very deserving win but she also had Barbara Hershey in the same film, who gave a more forward performance, but it is really an apples and oranges comparison.
I voted for the pairing you didnt mention. Why not?
