Another one of my absolute favorite actors, one who has had such a diverse and rich catalogue of great films and performances. It is pure madness that she doesn’t have more than one Oscar. Which would you say is your favorite?

With sincerity I like her supporting turn in GI Jane.

For sure THE GRADUATE. She was also amazing in Turning Point.

All of them!!!  Bancroft and Ellen Burstyn tie for my all time favorite actress.

I chose THE PUMPKIN EATER from this list…the pacing of the movie drags for sure, but Bancroft is perfection absolute perfection!

Her work in “7 Women”, “‘Night Mother” and “84 Charing Cross Road” is easily Oscar-worthy besides her great nominated ones. One of the all time greats, male or female.

She deserved wins for both The Miracle Worker and The Graduate

One of my film guilty pleasures is to catch a late night showing of Bancroft in The Slender Thread. She and Poitier are gripping in what is quite simply a two hour phone call. She was an amazing actress.
