Who is your favourite actor who has won 2 (or more) Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor category?

Some great actors here, but also some really undeserving wins.

Several of them have one good-to-great win and then one rather horrible win but the two I am coming back to are Walter Brennan and the newly crowned Christoph Waltz….and I am actually going to give it to Waltz, who seems to be on his way to be a legendary character actor.

I am proud to say Waltz as well. After he won an Oscar for his amazing performance in Inglourious Basterds, I honestly didn’t think he would ever get nominated for another Oscar, because it seemed like the part he was born to play, from which all future works would be compared to, and ultimately fall short. After watching Django, I realized that he is not just a one-trick pony, and was quite happy to see him win his 2nd prize. It’s nice seeing how much Tarantino and Waltz admire and respect each other and enjoy working together, because I think we shall see this partnership repeated many more times in the future. I certainly look forward to seeing their next project together!  Tarantino knows how to utilize Waltz’s talents to their fullest, and Waltz really understands Tarantino’s poetic writing.  With Django, I think Waltz has taken over the role of Tarantino’s golden boy go-to actor from Sam Jackson (nothing against Jackson, but his single fruitless nomination is no match for Waltz’s 2-for-2 pair of wins). But I’d still love to see Jackson show up in every one of QT’s films, if possible.

In terms of who is the best actor on this list? Easily Michael Caine. Waltz is a good actor but we havent seen his range extend much beyond the Tarantino roles, he needs to prove he can do more than playing the humerous, suave and charming type characters as oppossed to caine who’s shown tremendous range throughout his career. Douglas and Robards are brilliant actors, and I support both of Douglas’s victories for Supporting Actor, including for Being There.

I believe that Michael Caine didn’t deserve his second Oscar. That should’ve easily gone to Tom Cruise for Magnolia.

I think that just about anybody else besides Caine would have been more deserving that year. But I agree, of those nominees, Tom Cruise is probably the one I would have most wanted to see win.

Jason Robards is clearly, IMo, the best actor on this list
and his 2 wins for ATPM and Julia were both brilliant…
    and most deserving….

Christoph Waltz’ agent is my son’s
    best friend, Adam Schweitzer…and although
he now has 2 oscars…he is actually in a state
    of shock over doing it…..

On oscar night..he actually did not think he had a chance…

I did, but I thought that he couldn’t beat Tommy Lee Jones.
