What is your favourite song to win the Grammy for Record of the Year between 1983 and 1992?

Michael, even though I wish the win had been for “Billie Jean” instead. I like Tina and Paul Simon from this list too.

I voted Tina for sentimental reasons.  It was a great win and marked a tremendous comeback, one that would see Tina Turner begin her legendary second act and sell the most concert tickets of any solo performer.  Plus, no one gives a live performance like her.  I’ve been fortunate to see many concerts, and no one can match Tina’s charisma and stage presence—extraordinary vocalist and performer.

Beat It was a great win.  It’s probably my favorite Michael Jackson song (along with Billie Jean), and loved his live performance from the Dangerous World Tour, which can be seen on the Live in Bucharest video.  I think all of his performances of the song after that tour were lip synched.

I also really enjoy Another Day in Paradise, Phil Collins being a tremendous vocalist, and Eric Clapton’s signature song.

This list compiles the best ROTY winners ever, IMO. Its hard to choose from these 10 songs. But, I’m going to choose “Beat It”. IMO, its Michael Jackson’s best song.

Not crazy about the list…Huge Bette Midler fan, but this is not one of my favs from her.  Voted Tina’s “What’s Love Got To Do with It”…I’ll agree Jackson’s “Billie Jean” is superior to “Beat It.”

Here’s a really fun live acoustic recording of What’s Love Got To Do With It, for the people who voted for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oac_nn4p_Qk
