I was so shocked when Hangover prevailed. I adore (500) Days of Summer and thought it should have won easily. Thoughts?

Same here on The Hangover, Greg. It’s kind of weird that it will always be called “Golden Globe winning film The Hangover” because it doesn’t seem like a Golden Globe winning movie.

I would have to say It’s Complicated
I know the reviews were average, but it was still a great film. It had an insanely likeable trio of leads and Alec Baldwin should have gotten some awards attention.

500 Days of Summer is the only movie that I like in this bunch.

2009 was a pretty disappointing year for musical/comedies.

Did you know that The Hangover is the first and only film to win the Golden Globe for Best Picture (Musical/Comedy) without a single Oscar nomination? I suppose (500) Days of Summer was also Oscar nomination-less, and Nine and Julie & Julia, despite their Oscar nominations, were ultimately disappointments overall, and perhaps not really worthy of a Best Picture prize.

If animated films were allowed to compete in this category (since the introduction of the Best Animated Feature category, they have been ineligible), I think Up would have won hands-down.

Also, how did Oscar Best Picture nominee (and Golden Globe Best Actor Musical/Comedy nominee) A Serious Man not get nominated for the Globes’ Best Picture Musical/Comedy category?
