I have not seen Good Morning Vietnam but now that it is on Netflix I am planning on to. For now, Nicolas Cage was great in Moonstruck so I vote for him. Hurt was also good and I didn’t like Swayze in Dirty Dancing and I haven’t seen the others.
N/A: William Hurt (Broadcast News)
I haven’t seen it yet, but I have been meaning to.
5: Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing)
It might be an iconic performance now, but he was average, and except for his great dancing abilities, he was a pretty mediocre actor. He was a lot better in Ghost three years later, and should’ve won over Gerard Depardieu
4: Nicolas Cage (Moonstruck)
He was good, but he was overshadowed by Cher and Olympia Dukakis. A win would not have been terrible, but he wasn’t the best in the category at all
3: Danny DeVito (Throw Momma From the Train)
One of my favorite DeVito performance. He was absolutely brilliant and so funny. I don’t think his performance was going to go anywhere else awards-wise, but it would have been a good winner here
2: Steve Martin (Roxanne)
One of Steve Martin’s best performances. It should have broken through at the Oscars, and it was a very close call for me here, because some days, I actually think he should’ve won this. I constantly alternate between the top three as potential winners here
1: Robin Williams (Good Morning Vietnam)
Beautiful, hilarious performance and a deserving win for Robin Williams. He actually should’ve won the Oscar for this, and I wish he did, because it was a much better performance that Michael Douglas.
