Ralph Fiennes hands down no competiton. The best performance of the year so far for me. Keaton and Murray did good jobs but not award worthy work and I haven’t seen Waltz or Phoenix yet. I wish Bill Hader got nominated for The Skeleton Twins

As much as I want Fiennes to win, I think it’ll be Keaton.

Ralph Fiennes – he gives one of the best comedic performances in a very very long time!!!!! And importantly, he is a dramatic actor doing something really different and succeeding brilliantly!

imo Michael Keaton belongs in the Drama category – his performance is a dramatic one.

Michael Keaton and it isn’t close.

This category looks much better when you replace Bill Murray with Chris Rock. I thought nobody cared for St. Vincent. Harvey gets a random SAG nom for Naomi Watts yesterday and now 2 Globe noms today.

Michael Keaton is super impressive in Birdman. I’ll go with him. Ralph Fiennes is quite funny in The Grand Budapest Hotel, so he’s my second pick. For a guy who’s more known for drama, he picks up comedy like a real pro.

This is such a difficult one because my favorite actors are literally these five men

I ADORE Michael Keaton, and he is obviously going to win this one. But I am going to put my support behind the wonderful Joaquin Phoenix, who actually managed to play a Pynchon character, and if you knew how hard that was, he’d get the win.

    01: Joaquin Phoenix (Inherent Vice)
    02: Michael Keaton (Birdman)
    03: Bill Murray (St. Vincent)
    04: Christoph Waltz (Big Eyes)
05: Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel)

After watching (or sitting through) Inherent Vice, here are my personal rankings

    1. Ralph Fiennes

    everyone else

Seriously this is one embarassing year for the category. The other guys are good, no one is terrible but there are so many better comedic performances this year. Bill Hader “The Skeleton Twins”, Channing Tatum “22 Jump Street”, Chris Pratt “Guardians of the Galaxy”,  Daniel Radcliffe “What If”, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon “The Trip to Italy”, and even better musical performances from James Cordon “Into the Woods” and John Llyod Young “Jersey Boys”. I really wish they let Chadwick Boseman be here for Get on Up too. That movie is as much of a musical that Walk the Line is.

    1. Michael Keaton
