It’s hard to argue against 98.

I voted for 2001, but 1998 was pretty disgraceful too. Halle Berry and Gwyneth Paltrow have to be the most undeserving Oscar best actress winners of all time. But Judi Dench winning an Oscar for a few seconds on screen was ridiculous I have to say.

A toss up between 1967 and 2001 here…all other years had at least one of my choices as a victor.  I voted for 1967 bc only Parsons IMO I at least didn’t mind winning, while in 2001 I didn’t mind Broadbent, Connelly and Washington so much even though I didn’t want any of them to win.

1998, but I still wouldn’t consider that year undeserved. I did really like Benigni in Life is Beautiful and I thought Dench in Shakespeare in Love was deserved (and let the hate mail ensue), but while Paltrow and Coburn deserved their nominations, I felt that they did not deserve to win. Cate Blanchett and Ed Harris should have been the winners for that year.

17th accadem awards. Crosby was the weakest of the bunch and anyone else should have won. Best actress should have been DavSis or Colbert. Supporting actor should have been Webb. Supporting actress should have been anyone else.

Terrible performance. Meryl Streep won deservedly!

Each of the years listed had at least one winner that I supported or felt “They were worthy enough even if I would vote for someone else”.

However, 1998 was one year where none of my personal favorites won.

Benigni over Ian McKellan…..Paltrow over Cate Blanchett……Dench over Lynn Redgrave….Coburn over Harris.

I think 2001 comes close as I only supported Broadbent’s win, and even then I feel he should’ve been up for Moulin Rouge instead.

2005….Reese Witherspoon and George Clooney should not have won….Weisz was wonderful, but Amy Adams was better….Hoffman deserved his win.

If I think of more, I will add it later.

1998, though I do think Coburn’s performance was deserving of the win.  There was just no excuse for Begnini or Paltrow to win and I do not think Dench did enough (though I love her) to warrant a win.

Disagree completely. Heath Ledger was magnificent and should not have been denied the statue.
