    thoughts?

Of the above listed 9, I would rank them as follows:

    1) It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
    2) Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
    3) The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)
    4) Vertigo (1958)
    5) Harvey (1950)
    6) Anatomy of a Murder (1959)
    7) Rear Window (1954)
    8) The Philadelphia Story (1940)
    9) The Glenn Miller Story (1954)

I know the poll limits you to ten choices, but you left off a few more great Jimmy Stewart performances:

    • as Rupert Cadell in ROPE
    • as Alfred Kralik in THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER
    • as Tom Destry Jr in DESTRY RIDES AGAIN

As such, with these three and the ones already listed, I find it impossible to vote for only one performance as “best.”

But if you wanna know “favorite” Jimmy Stewart performance: I voted with my gut instinct and went for Elwood P. Dowd in HARVEY

But I think VERTIGO is his “best” movie
