What do you think is Johnny Depp’s best performance?
I apologize in advance, as I realize I had to leave off a lot of his most well-known roles (A Nightmare on Elm Street, 21 Jump Street, Cry-Baby, Benny & Joon, Don Juan DeMarco, Sleepy Hollow, From Hell, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Public Enemies, Alice in Wonderland, etc.), but after doing some research, I believe I have included most of his best-reviewed roles.
If what you think is Johnny Depp’s best performance isn’t listed, select the “other” option, and leave a reply, indicating which of his roles is his strongest.
He is just a terribly over-rated actor IMO..not worthy of any of his 3 acting nominations
that i cannot pick one film over any other..he is basically bad in mostly all of his films
and thank goodness..his star is waning……….
Huge fan but I’d say Captain Jack Sparrow or Finding Neverland.
Ed Wood for me, though I think it’s helped by being one of the more well-made films on his resume (though there are quite a few good ones).
At the risk of sounding cliché, my vote goes to Captain Jack Sparrow. It’s hard for me to imagine him topping that performance, and I think it’s a pity he didn’t win an Oscar for that role.

Competely agree. He’s been giving the exact same ‘quirky’ performance for over 20 years.
He was at his best in ‘Cry Baby’ but his eccentric schtick is just tiresome.
He really needs to stop with the Tim Burton nonsense.
I love his performance in Ed Wood, but no other actor would have done what he did with Jack Sparrow.
I know I’m part of the few who beleive this but I kinda thought he saved “Dark Shadows” from being really boring. His worst movie has to be “Nick of Time” (it was in the 90s I believe)
I dont know if he is ever going to be as good as he was in first Pirates. It is his iconinc role and problem is that in last few movies (“The Lone Ranger, “Alice”…) he is not creating a character, but just playing a variation of Captain Jack Sparow. He needs to come back to his aproach of creating something different. His second best perofmance is in “Ed Wood”.
