Nine films are tied for the record for the most Oscar wins for fully-animated feature-length films, with 2 wins each in competitive categories.
Which film do you think is least deserving of the honor?November 19, 2013 at 2:51 pm #546262
Pocahontas (1995)November 19, 2013 at 4:32 pm #546263
Alan Menken’s score for Pocahontas is pretty great, but the Toy Story nerd inside of me simply likes “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” better than “Colors of the Wind” (although Colors is a close second).November 19, 2013 at 4:59 pm #546264
I have to admit I like Colors Of The Wind too much to vote for Pocahontas even though it’s the weakest film of the line-up. I don’t like The Little Mermaid, but it’s Oscar comes for the one thing about it I really like (Under The Sea). I love Pinocchio and the Pixar films listed, so those are out of the question. Beauty And The Beast has its flaws, and I don’t like the theme song much, but it has some of the best Disney moments as well, and partly because of the winning score. So, to my surprise, I’ll vote for Alladdin. It’s not the worst film in the line-up (those would be Pocahontas and Little Mermaid), but I feel it’s the one that deserved its Oscars the least.
If Friend Like Me had own instead of A Whole New World (boring ass song winner), than I probably would’ve gone with something else.November 20, 2013 at 4:05 am #546265
The worst film here is easily Pocahontas so I will gladly vote for it. I don’t mind Colors of the Wind, but I think You’ve Got a Friend in Me was the more memorable, catchy (not that Colors of the Wind was meant to be catchy) tune….not to mention it was short, sweet, and to the point.
I concur that Beauty and the Beast’s title song wasn’t the best choice (Be Our Guest was mine) and neither was A Whole New World (I actually may still give my vote to it as I am not too passionate about any of the nominees), but both films are miles better than Pocahontas.
The Lion King is overrated in my opinion, and its Best Song win was for the most annoying/boring song of the score….Circle of Life would’ve been somewhat better.
The Little Mermaid is not one of my favorites but I would say its wins were both deserved.
I haven’t seen Pinocchio in years but I recall not caring for it as much as others, but its wins were deserved.
The Incredibles, UP, Toy Story 3: The Incredibles was a very good film while UP and Toy Story 3 are among the best on this list.
So, for me it is POCAHONTAS with THE LION KING close behind.November 20, 2013 at 4:24 am #546266
Aladdin was my childhood, so y’all need to back off.November 20, 2013 at 9:16 am #546267
I didnt like voting for any of them as least deserving, but ultimately went with Pocahontas.
