Mulligan, Mara and Page (though I am content with the winners of the latter two’s categories).

Streep’s over-acted turn in Doubt is not underrated.

I fail to see how a handful of these performances (Streep, Chastain, Page, and Zellweger) are considered underrated, when they were contenders in their years. Anyways I’m going to say Rooney Mara.

I went with Page even though I would have given my vote to Cotillard that year, Page was still incredible and I do think she was underrated, and other years I probably would have given her the win. I agree that I don’t know if you can really call Chastain and some other underrated because she was in contention for the win and I don’t think 6 months is really a long enough time for a performance to become underrated, even though I definitely would have given her a vote over Lawrence so in that sense I suppose it was underrated by the academy haha

Well, since it asks about “underrated” that eliminates some for me. Some were “overrated” imo, and one I’ve lost a considerable amount of respect for.

I went with Rooney Mara, close with Page, who I watched grow up on Canadian television and Indy films.

It’s ironic; the two most “underrated” performances listed are the two I wouldn’t have given nominations. I would have given Michelle Williams’ spot to Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right), and I would have given Rooney Mara’s spot to Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin). They were still nominations I was happy to see nonetheless, especially with Swinton already having an Oscar and knowing Moore is destined to have her day (although at that point, I thought, “Okay, she was snubbed for A Single Man, and now The Kids Are All Right — Who has she pissed off since her double-noms for Far From Heaven and The Hours??).

Jolie. easy one in my opinion. An Oscar tie would have been great that year and deserved.

, I think Moore was more deserving of a nomination over bening but I think nethier were deserving even in that weak year
