Which regular cast member of Modern Family do you think is most likely to be the next to follow in the footsteps of Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen, and Ty Burrell, and win an Emmy for their role on the show?

I think Sofia Vergara will be the next (and quite possibly the only one) to win, of the remaining cast members.  This past season was Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s strongest year, and the fact that he lost to his on-screen partner shows that Stronstreet could always be an obstacle for Ferguson to win because Emmy voters prefer his character more.

I think Vergara will have less cast members to fend off, and will most likely have better material this season, and I am currently predicting her to win Supporting Actress next year.

I agree with you that Sofia Vergara will win an Emmy. I predict that she will win at least three times, especially with this pregnancy storyline.

However, I couldn’t disagree more with the fact that Vergara will be the only remaining cast member to win. Ferguson will break through into the field. They have rewarded Stonestreet twice now, and I believe that they will want to take a short break from him. Burrell will win one more in the future, but Ferguson will win at least two. Every adult Modern Family actor will have at least two Emmys by the time the show ends, and at least two of the kids will have been nominated (Winter and Rodriguez seem to be the best bets at the moment)

There will be big dramatic episodes in the future. The show has clearly shown they can handle death sensitively but still in a humorous fashion (“The Last Walt”) and therefore I hope to see some dramatic episodes in the future.

While I do hope that Jesse Tyler Ferguson (and Ed O’Neill) end up winning Emmys for the show, I would say that the chances of every cast member ending up with at least 2 Emmys is very unlikely and unrealistic.  That would mean, at the very least, Modern Family winning Best Supporting Actor eight times.

I also don’t think that any of the younger actors have a very good chance of getting nominated, since the men are already taking up 4 of the 6 slots.

Also, how would Sofia Vergara win 3 Emmys with the pregnancy storyline? She may win an Emmy this year with the pregnancy storyline, but the gestation period for most humans isn’t three years.

Ed and Sofia. Jesse’s a horrible actor and was miscast (this coming from a fan of the show; see profile pic).

I am saying she will win next year with the storyline, and two after that for some other storylines

I sort of agree. Ed and Jesse are the weakest links of the show. Regarding the grown-up cast, IMHO.

Sorry, but this completely unrealistic. Vergara hasn’t won for the first 3 seasons, but she’s still gonna win 3 Emmys for this role? And you expect Burrell to win another, and Ferguson to win 2 (meaning that would be 3 more Emmy cycles)? That’s not gonna happen.

Emmys will cool on MF very soon. That’s just the reality of things. I agree that given her plotline Vergara could have a good chance at winning next year, but given how the premiere went, it’s likely her birth episode will be earlier in the episode than expected, which will mean Emmy voters will have to have a strong memory. Not to mention that she’s gonna have to steal A LOT of votes from 2-time winner Bowen (I love that I can call her that).
Vergara still has a shot to win.

I’d say O’Neill is a more likely winner than Ferguson, but I think both of their chances of winning are fading quickly. Ferguson was the male MVP of last season, but it didn’t get him the win. They decided to go back to Stonestreet, who didn’t have a standout season at all other than his tape, which tells me there’s no dying need to give Ferguson or O’Neill Emmys.

    ^ this is hilarious

However, if her acting in that skit at the Emmys is anything to go by, I’d say the girl has talent

Vergara is not going to end up with 3 Emmy’s…….. I predict by 2014 we will see a big downfall in the MF nominations. I truly believe that in maybe 2 years they will have 2 or less acting nominations.

Once they write Ed O’Neill a great showcase, the Emmys will obviously want to give him a trophy as an industry veteran.  He just hasn’t had the great episode yet to let them, or if he has, he didn’t submit it.
