While no SAG nomination certainly decreases an actor’s chances at winning an Oscar (only Marcia Gay Harden has been able to pull off an Oscar win without the help of SAG since 1994, for Supporting Actress in Pollock in 2000), I can’t help but feel like a few of this year’s Oscar nominees that were left out SAG this year actually have a decent chance of winning the Oscar, for one reason or another.
Which one do you think has the best chance of winning this year?
While Riva is most talked about, I think Jacki would be the one. I took my mom to see the film b/c we hadn’t seen each other in a while and when all was said and done, my mom turned to me and said, “You know who I feel for in that whole thing? The mom. She seemed to be the only one with any sense and that has to be hard to pull off. Whoever that woman is, she deserves an Oscar. You write that on your little message board thing you told me about.”
Wow. So the Riva love is legitimate. I agree TV12, the women were stronger than the men in SLP.
I’m predicting Emmanuelle Riva to upset in Best Actress, thus this is an easy choice.
Oscar gold for her 86th birthday? Dun dun dun . . .
