The Grand Budapest Hotel wins this for me. That cast is just perfect and trumps all the other nominees. I have not seen Imitation Game though. Birdman, Boyhood, and Theory of Everything have good casts too

I never understand if these is a prediction or personal choices.

    Prediction: Birdman
Personal choice: I´ve only seen two of these, but I think Birdman is deserving. If Boyhoods performances are as powerfull as its said, I don´t care a bit if its a 4 person ensemble that takes it.

I’ll be rooting for either Birdman or Boyhood to win. Anything else will be disappointing. I expect Birdman to win. Where’s Into the Woods?

I think Birdman will win but my problem with it is that the performances are all over the place – different styles and different levels of acting. I think Andrea Riseborough and Amy Ryan – two actresses who I usually like – give atrocious performances in this particular movie. There are only 3 performances that I think are great in this movie: Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, and Lindsay Duncan (is she included in the list of actors who are nominated for the film?)

I cast my vote for The Grand Budapest Hotel instead of the also superb cast of Boyhood simply because all of the actors perform more cohesively as a whole to enhance the movie (and to be honest, I do think it matters how large a cast is in terms of “ensemble”). This is also a way to recognize Ralph Fiennes, who is being left off of most lists (but he will get a Golden Globe nomination tomorrow).

One question about the Boyhood cast: why isn’t the actor who plays the stepfather considered a cast member for this award? I can’t remember the actor’s name but he was quite good and integral to the cast.

    So my rankings:
    1. The Grand Budapest Hotel
    2. Boyhood
    3. The Theory of Everything (but it’s really a two-hander. Everyone is fine, but with the exception of her lover, nobody really gets to develop an actual character)
    4. Birdman
(I am seeing The Imitation Game this weekend)

I want Grand Budapest to win, but I think Boyhood will take it. It seems like they like it enough to give it the recognition that will propel it to a BP lock to win.

It’s probably because he didn’t have his own solo title card.

Birdman is my pick. Keaton, Norton, and Stone are all Oscar-worthy. There’s not a bad performance in the film. Boyhood would be my second-pick, and The Grand Budapest Hotel third. I didn’t really feel like The Theory of Everything had much of an ensemble cast to begin with, but they were good I guess.

I’m actually kind of disappointed that Foxcatcher didn’t get a nomination here.

Yeah as much as I loved the ensemble of Theory of Everything I thought the Foxcatcher ensemble would get in
