Who should have been nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys this year?
In an ideal world, any of these people would’ve been nominated over Sara Beirelles and Taylor Swift.
It’s very hard to choose when so many of these albums are like top 10/15 of the year for me. I’ll go with Bowie, simply because it’s ridiculous that he has only one AOTY nom even though he is one of the greatest music legends from the 20th century. But Yeezus is just as deserving I think. Timberlake and Musgraves would’ve made great nominees also.
I’m going with Timberlake because even though 20/20 Experience has a few flaws with it, the album overall is great and still feel that Future Sex Love Sounds is his best work, his latest album is a continuation of his progress.Bruno’s album this time around is better than his debut and shows his growth as well.
Also, I think Musgraves and Bowie would have made great nominees as well.
I don’t have a problem with the real nominees: Daft Punk, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Kendrick and I don’t mind Sara, they are deserving in their own way and I would like to see any of these four win over Swift.
Modern Vampires. I predicted it to be the Rock/Alt nom and surprised there was no Rock/alt nom this year.
Trouble Will Find Me – The National
Shaking the Habitual – The Knife
Yeezus – Kanye West
m b v – My Bloody Valentine
…Like Clockwork – Queens of the Stone Age
Sunbather – Deafheaven
Overgrown – James Blake
Repave – Volcano Choir
Comedown Machine – The Strokes
Woman – Rhye
I Was Once an Eagle – Laura Marling
Avalanche – Quadron
Really, almost anything would have been better than 3 to 4 of the five nominees Sara Bareilles: vanilla. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: vanilla. Taylor Swift: trash AND vanilla. Daft Punk: understandable, but pretty overrated.
People who call Daft Punk overrated with the amount of influence they had on music clearly don’t understand how much of an impact they had on EDM and pop music in general.
Im assuming the 9 votes for Justin are because those users have never heard of Tame Impala. Listen to ‘Lonerism”. That sh*t is lights years better than any of those “strawberry bubble” songs on the 20/20 experience.
