If the four men who were nominated for both SAG and Golden Globe awards for Best Supporting Actor (Jared Leto, Michael Fassbender, Barkhad Abdi and Daniel Brühl), who do you think will be the 5th nominee?December 14, 2013 at 11:30 pm #546378
For this proposed scenario I’ll go with Cooper. Though if the mentioned 4 are indeed solid that last spot could also easily go to Forte, Franco or Gandolfini IMO. I guess Hanks too 🙁 – Hell maybe even Ford.December 15, 2013 at 12:13 am #546379
Either Gandolfini because it’s their last chance to award a beloved tv veteran or Will Forte if he gets carried by the Nebraska love that will most likely come from the academy. There’s a good chance that Cooper gets in (even though his reviews are not universal when it comes to praising his performance) and even Jonah Hill can make the cut.
I would personally pick Jake Gyllenhaal for that 5th slot.December 15, 2013 at 12:29 am #546380
I’ll vote for James Gandolfini. His is the best narrative of these listed guys, and I can see him getting that rare posthumous citation from the Academy as much for his overall career as for this particular performance.December 15, 2013 at 5:58 am #546381
i don’t think abdi is gonna be nominated
the final two spot is gonna be taken by cooper and gandolfini
hanks buzz is fading thoughDecember 15, 2013 at 8:20 am #546382
I don’t think Bruhl is guarenteed yet. Clearly, the HFPA liked Rush given its Picture nod, but the academy could vote differently. I would say its between Cooper, Forte (only if he picks up a Critics Choice nod), Gandolfini, and Hanks (if SMB does really well.)December 15, 2013 at 10:37 am #546383
As much as I would love to see McConaughey, Ford, or Rockwell making it in, I have serious doubts that they will make it. I voted for Cooper, but Hanks could pull off a surprise.December 15, 2013 at 10:47 am #546384
I believe only Leto, Fassbender and Abdi are the actual locks. Something tells me Rush won’t appeal to Academy members. I hope I’m wrong – I’d love for Bruhl to get a nod for this performance. He deserved one for Inglourious Basterds as well.
Probably Cooper since I expect Hustle to hit a surge of buzz following its wide release. Could certainly be Gandolfini, especially with the news that the academy seems to really be liking Enough Said. Hill would be a welcome surprise, especially according to reax to his performance so far.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantDecember 15, 2013 at 9:41 pm #546385
Even though I have lost my faith in Hanks after his snubs at both the SAGs and GGs, I am keeping him in my predictions.
