One of the greatest lineups and the worst winner in the Supporting Actress category.

Jennifer Hudson is a great singer, and to achieve that, she also needs to be a good performer, but that will never make her an actress. I don’t take her win seriously at all. She doesn’t have a film career and she proved the Academy wrong – such wasted opportunity to help out actresses like Barraza or Kikuchi, who for example needed an Oscar to have more chance in Hollywood unlike Hudson who never planned to be a serious actress.

So the other four nominees were much better. Abigail Breslin is my fourth, but the Top 3 is pretty close to each other.
My personal winner is Blanchett probably, but between the two “Babel” gals I went with Kikuchi by 1%. Asians are so underrated it hurts.

Kikuchi was my choice that year, with Blanchett being my #2. Hudson is my #5 from that lineup. Even though the connection between Kinkuchi’s story and the rest of the film is tenuous at best, her performance is undeniably good.

    Both of them are terrific.

Went with Adriana. More difficult role imo, and she is spectacular.

I’ve been saying that since 2006. Lol.

I’m happy for Hudson but, she hasnt proven to me that she can act. Maybe she will with some more time and experience. Who knows.

But she took the spot away from someone from Pan’s Labyrinth, Children of Men, Little Miss Sunshine, and Little Children. I’m probably forgetting some of the others.

Octavia Spencer is the worst Best Supporting Actress winner.

I support Hudson’s win. She does not have to be a great actress to win an Oscar in Best Supporting Actress. It was a musical role and she won for her singing.

I think Rinko is the better of the two nominees from Babel.

I found them both heartbreaking in their roles, but IMO Kikuchi had more difficult part. She was my # 1 and that year (Barraza was second and as much as I love Blanchett she had to go third that time).

Omg. I mean Maribel Verdú was just perfect. I think Collette was pure lead, but Verdú and Blunt in “The Devil Wears Prada” were snubbed.

The 2006 lineup was absolutely horrible. None of the performers were worth an Oscar. Meryl Streep in “Prada” was the real supporting actress of the year…. I think Meryl gave one of the best supporting performances of the 00’s decade.

Hands down easiest Adriana Barraza would’ve should’ve won the Oscar. But lets face it we all got to caught up in the American Idol Contestant and the amazing job she did on that one song. Barraza is heartbreaking and the standout in this movie.

BTW Hudson vs. Hathaway Hudson wins easily.

I love them both so much! I have to go with Kikuchi. Her performance really blew me away and I thought her storyline was very touching. She portrayed that complex character expertly and it’s the most beautiful performance in the film, IMHO. Barraza is right behind her though.
