thoughts? While the former has all the nostalgia in the world and some stunning visuals, the latter is just f**king powerful. Great acting, lush/rich music, gorgeous period costumes and sets and one heck of an ending. I did not see that one coming…
Rev Road is a better story and the acting is notieceably better, but Titanic is a better-made film, and this is coming from the biggest James Cameron hater that you will ever meet.
Cameron is a genius film maker regardless of how we may feel about him. I absolutely hated Rev Road, that overbaked, revisited domestic angst, and Titanic is one for my library of favorites.
No contest, I had issues with Titanic, but it is a better overall film than RR.
Rev Road was overworked.. Aside from a few brief moments of cheesey dialogue Titanic is a pretty great film. Leo was superior in Rev Road, though!
Revolutionary road had a great story but i have to say that for most of it i was bored out of my mind. Titanic still remains to this day on my best movie ever made list at #1 tied with Gone With The Wind.
I like Revolutionary Road. A lot. Honesty in movies about marriage and/or the “American dream” is hard to come by. Titanic is a great movie, of course, but I think people don’t like Rev Road because it makes them uncomfortable. And it should. Complacent people need a kick in the ass every so often.
Well if rolling one’s eyeballs qualifies as “uncomfortable”, then you might have a point. But perhaps it isnt discomfort, but “O brother. Again????”
The cinematography and costume designs are very good. But they’re better in Titanic.
