Nine reasons why he’s my favorite male actor.
I’m going with Kramer vs. Kramer. He carried that film and was in practically every scene. I’ve never loved Hoffman as an actor. I admire his talent, but all of his great films seem so dated to me. Kramer (and Tootsie) seems to stand the test of time.
One of my all-time favorite actors. Midnight Cowboy is probably his best performance, but he was essentially co-lead with Jon Voight. Rain Man had Tom Cruise in the supporting role.
I’m gonna agree and go with Kramer vs. Kramer. He was pratically in every scene, and had to carry the film himself.
I admit I haven’t seen some of these movies, including Kramer vs Kramer, but of the ones I have seen its Tootsie hands down. He is hilarious in that movie, and he completely becomes Dorothy their are hoenstly times when you forget she’s being played by a man. I think one of his best performances if not the best
It was a close call between Kramer and Tootsie, but I decided to give him some love for TOOTSIE.
As nkb325 said, there honestly were times that it does (even nowadays) that I forget that its him and his vocal work and mannerisms just seem completely believable. He is truly hilarious and delightful in that movie, which it in itself is also one of the best movies ever.
Huge fan of his, love all of these performances (K vs K & RM are slightly overrated IMO though)…toss up between Midnight Cowboy & Tootsie. I’ll go with Midnight Cowboy for his best work. The Graduate is my fav overall film of these.
