I would absolutely love it if Mud makes it for McConaughey or for Nichols for Original Screenplay.

Dang! Forgot to get a “Other” pick. Just tell us on this thread whom you would like from the people not on this list.

This poll doesn’t belong in the Emmys forum, but Harrison Ford ftw.

I don’t think anyone is saying that Harrison Ford is never going to happen. And no one is saying that Matthew McConaughey is never going to happen for Mud either. Both are unlikely, but no one is saying it is never going to happen.

I would love it if Before Midnight got a BP nomination and I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility, but it’ll be a serious struggle. And I think in weaker years Julie Delpy definitely could have gotten in, but in a year with so many previous winners in much more buzzed about films I don’t see it happening. I think BP is actually a better shot than BA

Well, what I meant by the poll is that I wanted to have a list of people who were unlikely, but if the right circumstances arose, then a nomination is possible. I just used the name “I’ll never happen” because it sounded better than “they are unlikely, I don’t know, maybe, I’m sure, oh this is too stressful *runs away screaming*”

I remember how unlikely I thought Demian Bichir would be remembered for his remarkable turn in A Better Life. I was truly happy to see him in the lineup. Same for Richard Jenkins in The Visitor.
So I guess one never knows. I think, any of the above could happen, but for the sake of this poll, I went with Julie Delpy. Hopefully, she is an Indy darling.

I think that Before Midnight and Mud both came out too early. They’re both great, particularly the actors, and we’re talking about them now, but I think they’re going to lose too much momentum when the big ones come out.
