I don’t know what to say here. A simple poll.
A Serious Man
Up In The Air. Outstanding direction, stellar cast, riveting script. Reitman’s best if you ask me.
Inglourious Basterds, with Up in the Air a close second. Up and The Hurt Locker deserve mention as well, in addition to Avatar (well-directed even if the story is plagiarized and basic).
The Hurt Locker
Up In The Air
The Blind Side
Never saw ‘A Serious Man’.
Up for its transcendent “Married Life” sequence or Avatar for its scope.
This was a great year, where 5 of the nominees are on my list of favourite movies of all time, including three in my current top 10. Personally it’s Inglourious Basterds, but I won’t fault anyone on another choice.

I thought “A Serious Man” was the most intellectually stimulating of the nominees so it would be my top choice followed by “Inglourious Bastards” which was the most fun I had in a movie theatre that year. “Up”, “The Hurt Locker”, “Avatar” and “Up in the Air” all made my top ten list so the nominations were largely to my liking.
Up is my favourite film of 2009, animated or not. No film made me feel the way it did. No film that year was that emotional, that funny, that incredible. I still love watching the film today. It’s a damn fine film and my third favourite Pixar film (behind WALL-E and Toy Story)
Avatar and Up in the Air are my favs of the group but had to go with Avatar. It’s just amazing in my opinion.
It feels like this exact poll just popped up a week ago.
Ten BO nominees, and I didn’t more than like any of them, but that was a blah year for movies. Up, The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, An Education, A Serious Man, Inglorious Basterds in that order.
