Between the 10 last Directing winners, which was one the best?

This is really tough. I voted for Jackson, because Return of the King is the only movie up here that I can say I actually loved.

Voted the Coens just slightly ahead of Ang Lee.

It was tough a decision but Roman Polanski was just a little better then the Coen’s and Ang who would round out the top 3.

This is tough, but in the end I go with Lee.

I haven’t seen any of the “Lord Of The Rings” movies, so no comment in that.

My thoughts exactly. ROTK pales in comparison to several of the others.

Confused? THE DEPARTED is not Scorsese’s best movie. THE PIANIST is not Polanski’s best movie. And THE HURT LOCKER is not Bigelow’s best movie.

So it needs to be their best film in order to vote for it? That’s not what the poll askes you to think about and vote on. I would argue that Jackson isn’t even top 3 of the past 10 director winners.

Yeah, being a director’s best film or not has nothing to do with it. It’s about which one is best among these films listed, not in the context of the director’s entire career. And frankly, “Return Of The King” isn’t Jackson’s best film either.

LOL–why did you create a poll if you already know the damn answer? Is it to prove how damn superior you are?

Too bad that most GDF members apparently disagree with you.

It’s to compare those films against each other. And what, just because I created the thing I’m not entitled to an opinion? My point is, dismissing Scorsese, Polanski or Bigelow on accounts of “not their best film” is not what this poll is about. It isn’t what which director had the best moment of his/hers carreer with their Oscar win. It’s simply about which one had the best director work among these particular films. That’s pretty clear.

Not only it’s Lee’s best movie (hahahaha), but it’s my favorite directing of the list. Jackson is a close #2.

You are right, its not scorsese´s best, its not polanski´s best (although among the top 5, maybe 3) and well, i do think its bigelow´s best. BUT we are not talking about these director´s best movies, its about the best direction among the winners this past ten years, so I AM still confsed cause i think those are the best among the given options. You should create a poll regarding your argument though…(bout the best of some director)…
