Glee was at a time as big of a show as Grey’s Anatomy. It had such a cultural impact and at its start there was nothing like it on television. While after its second season it fell from grace and never truly found its footing after that, there’s no argument Mr. Ryan Murphy brought together amazing ensembles and guest stars for this show over the years. However, only four of its main cast received Emmy Recognition (Jane Lynch has three noms and one win, Chris Colfer has two noms, and Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele both just got the one nomination.) In my opionion they were not the only cast members that deserved recognition.

Cory Montieth was a star from this role. It was a breakthrough performance, however, eventually I couldn’t stand the character there’s no arguing he had so much talent. Kevin McHale’s first season was incredible. He really should have had a bigger following and earned much more notice since his first season on the show. Other season I’m not so sure. Mark Salling was unlikable sure, but he had his moments. Naya Rivera didn’t have much to do in seasons 1 or 6 but in between she was epic. Her snide comments and one liners were hilarious, and boy does she have range. She should have 2 to 3 emmy nominations right now. Jenna Ushkowitz really never got a chance to shine sadly, but when Ryan Murphy finally gave her basically her own episodes in seasons 3 and 5, you really saw a glimpse of what we were missing. Jayma Mays was so adorable and quirky in season one. She should have been nominated for that season most definitely, and as for the other seasons she slowly just kinda dropped off the show. Heather Morris is the queen of one liners. She should have been nominated for seasons 2, 3, and 4. She would have had competitive episodes for seasons two and four as well. It is such a shame they never embraced her character. She’s my personal choice. Amber Riley, while not the best actress, could sing her heart out. Dianna Agron, in my opinion, has the best dramatic chops of the group. I’m hoping one day she’ll find a project to truly make her shine.

Glee had incredible guest stars all six seasons and only one for two of them (Paltrow and Harris) While by the sixth season of Glee you wanted to smash your head in each time they sang something, you can’t help but respect the ensemble that kept it chugging along since 2009.

I see everyone here going with Rivera.

I don´t think anyone really missed. The acting wasn´t that great. I think the only ones deserving of awards nminations were Lynch, Colfer and Michelle for the first seasons only, and a couple of guests.

Out of this poll, I´d say the closest one to deserving a nomination was Darren Criss for his first season on the show.

    Naya Rivera for Season 3.

Then Cory Monteith for Season 1 / Season 3. Not sure if good enough for a nomination, but definitely deserved buzz and being in actual contention for the spot. (I never get why Chris Colfer was rewarded instead of him… well I get why, but still)

Heather Morris. Especially Season 4 with Brittney 2.0. But Season 3 she was also a stand out. Matt Bomer and Kate Hudson’s guest spots as well

To be honest I think the only person who really missed out is Kate Hudson. I thought it was criminal that she wasn’t given a guest nom. From the main cast Jayma Mays was deserving in the first season. I have always found Rivera great but overrated so wouldn’t vote for her here.

Hudson really suprised me. She really has alot of talent bottled up that she just doesn’t use. She needs to do Broadway or another musical movie with a starring role this time

Naya Rivera is the most obvious and desvering main cast, her performance in S2 Sexy, Born This Way and Rumours are all worthy

Kate Hudson – Just for The New Rachel & Britney 2.0 – Her dancing, alcholism, fearlessness, one liner, comedic timing. The Gaga / JLO mash up alone deverses an Emmy

Kinda think that Idina Menzel and Matt Bomer shouldve gotten something as well

And actually really surprised no one mentioned Romy Rosemont for The Quarterback. That was just too emotional for me to handle

What Naya Rivera did in season 2 and season 3 was pure brilliance. She would give Julie Bowen a run for her money if she submitted “Silly Love Songs”

“Please. I’ve had mono so many times it turned into stereo”. And the whole fight with Puck’s girlfriend. Killer one liners, physical absurdity and a tiny little comedic crying scene. Winning tape.

Yes! Brittany 2.0 was great! Also All Or Nothing was a great showcase for her. It was all Brittany. She has fondu for two, she finds out she’s a genius at MIT, she has a hugely funny speech, and a hugely heartbreaking goodbye speech as well. Her crying was incredible. I’m just surprised Critics Choice skipped over her. They gave an award to Busy Philipps.

Gotta go with Cory. In my opinion, he was the heart of the show and was very undderrated. Should have been nominated for seasons 1 and 3 and maybe 2.

I’ve always been curious about emmy season for the first season. I know it was huge but I’ve always wondered which cast mates had the buzz

From what I remember, the ones everyone were talking about in the first season were Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, and Lynch. I’d assume it was them but I wonder who wasn’t far behind…my guess would be Cory and maybe Kevin.

Naya Rivera for Seasons 2 & 3 deserved nominations, as near everyone else has said.

Heather Morris deserved a nomination, because she was brilliant, but I can see why she wasn’t just because of competition. Having to get in ahead of, or as well as, Lynch & Rivera is a tall order when you factor in every other show and supporting actress.

Jonathan Groff was really good in his episodes I thought. I’d have put him in Guest once, maybe twice.

Even though she has won before, I’d say Jane Lynch was unlucky to miss out this year. The Hurt Locker Part 1 is a killer submission. She’s also damn hilarious in Dreams Come True. The two hour finale only aired last night in the UK, and she was brilliant. The Winner Takes It All showcased how brilliant her character was, and how brilliantly she played Sue.

Lea Michele was also unlucky to only get the one nomination.

Easy, boring answer of Naya Rivera, but it’s the correct answer. She did wonders with a character that should have been marginal, and in those last seasons (particularly the NYC arcs), Naya more than kept the show afloat on her shoulders. Too bad the show kind of discarded her in the end, and that might have been the result of real-life backstage discord. Santana FTW!
