A Streetcar Named Desire was anchored by a career-best performance by Marlon Brando, a great screenplay, and lasting power, so I choose that.
Between those 2…easily A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
but for me, the best Picture of 1951 was easily
A PLACE IN THE SUN…. which is in my top 10 of all time….
A Streetcar Named Desire is a great great movie and should have won, but it is tainted by the reputation of its director, a talented man and brilliant director who, one month after this film won four Oscars in March 1952, named names before HUAC.
Another wonderful film from 1951 is The African Queen. Bogie and Hepburn are great together.
I would pick Streetcat named desire
^Haha streetcat (I know that was an autocorrect, I just cracked up a little there)
oh woops. haha i didn’t even notice
