The ever so heated debate of one of the most controversial remakes of the best few years due to spacing from the original to the remake comes from the Spiderman universe. Who was the better Spiderman? Remember, this is about the performance not the movie as a whole!April 26, 2015 at 7:43 pm #550814
Andrew Garfield is one of my favorite new actors and I thought he was perfect casting choice for Spiderman though he was a bit too old to play the part but passed with his young apperence. I think Garfield did the wise cracking teen Peter Parker better than Maguire but Maguire brought something unique to his performance as well. He kind of played him more of a nerd rather than an independent soul that Garfield did. But Garfield had better chemistry dynamics with his other actors more than Maguire did. Maguire was great on his own and as Spiderman but didn’t have the best chemistry skills. So this was a hard one for me but I had to go with Garfield because he is the better actor and he could hit all the emotional points. I am bummed Garfield will not be Spiderman anymore as he was really getting the hang of the part but I think he gave two solid performancesMay 7, 2015 at 8:08 pm #550815
No hesitation. I’m a little concerned for whoever takes the role. It’s gonna be hard to top him.May 7, 2015 at 10:23 pm #550816
Andrew Garfield. The guy nailed It!May 26, 2015 at 5:17 am #550817
Tobey by a mile. The films collectively are better written and put together as well; better chemistry amongst the cast too…..lol….May 29, 2015 at 5:59 am #550818

I found Tobey’s nerdiness to be a little too “look at how nerdy I am!” All-in-all, based on what I’ve seen of his filmography, I don’t think he’s that great an actor (I’ve heard great things about him in Brothers though so maybe I’ll check that out). Andrew Garfield was far more fun to watch.June 12, 2015 at 1:32 pm #550820

Hope you enjoy it. Imo Tobey is far more watchable here than Gyllenhaal or any of the other terrific cast members who have almost nothing to do. Some may think he’s OTT, but, judging from what these characters go through, for me, it wasnt such a stretch.
You may enjoy Susanne Bier’s 2004’s original. A better film all ’round.
