All are conisdered iconic actors with strong legacys and performances. Who do you consider the best?
For me, the 10 greatest actors of all-time….
1. DUSTIN HOFFMAN’
2. DANIEL DAY LEWIS
3. GENE HACKMAN
4. AL PACINO
5. WILLIAM HURT
6. TOM HANKS
7. ROBERT DE NIRO
8. LAURENCE OLIVIER
9. SPENCER TRACY
how is Laurence Olivier not on this list?
You use 8 slots when you can use 10.
You left off not only Laurence Olivier, but Peter O’Toole, Jack Lemmon, Gene Hackman, Ralph Richardson, Walter Brennan, Richard Burton, John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Peter Sellers, among others
Of this list, I decided to go for Daniel Day Lewis, though Pacino, Brando, DeNiro, and Welles all had some pull…..but I do think I would have considered James Stewart or Peter Sellers or Dustin Hoffman or Olivier before them.
Olivier is the flaming omission 🙂 and would never “Hanks” the thing… but DDL was my choice
From this list Brando and Day-Lewis run the tightest race, had Hoffman been on it it would be between the 3 of them. Although, I adore him…Gene Kelly???
Even though he’s done a lot of crappy performances over his career, the great ones far outweigh the rest…I’m gonna go with Brando.
In terms of film acting, Brando, Day-Lewis, and Hackman are my picks. From what I’ve heard, Hackman was especially popular among actors in terms of his ability. Before he went out with a whimper in Welcome to Mooseport, he was a hot commodity with whom everyone wanted to work.
However, I would gander that Welles was technicallly greater than most of these people. I’d say the same about Olivier. However, my favorite is Nicholson, by far.
Laurence Oliver came to mind but since he isn’t listed, I gotta say DDL
