I say No because the Academy is coldest to women who deserve one the most.

Yes — her 8th nomination does the trick.

Who is the greatest living actress? Charlize Theron? Meryl Streep? 😉

Her performance in Albert Nobbs was amazing and very underrated. I had Streep in #1 in 2011 and Close at #2. If Glenn Close made Albert Nobbs in 2012 she would have won. I think that she can definitly win an oscar in the future!

No, she wouldn’t have.  Nobody saw Albert Nobbs.  Usually when career/make-up wins occur the performances are still widely seen and acclaimed, which then prompts a huge tide of goodwill.  Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart is one example.  Look at Al Pacino–Scent of a Woman was nominated for Best Picture, that was hugely important to him finally winning.  I think Glenn would’ve lost to Jennifer Lawrence.

I hope so!! She deserved to win the year of Fatal Attraction. And to be fair the year of Dangerous Liasons too (if voters knew that Foster would slay with Silence of the Lambs in the near future and Weaver had in supporting that year for Working Girl like she should have, Close would’ve won). She shouldn’t have dropped out of Therese this year. She could’ve been the favourite for supporting actress this year if she was! I would say I would rather Close win in lead, but to be fair, at this point beggars can’t be choosers!

Haha. To be fair it’s actually a pleasant change to talk about other actors on this forum, and not pages of people still arguing over Streep vs Davis in 2011! A bit random for it to be a Charlize stan though, not that she isn’t a brilliant actress, I mean I’d argue with anyone that she gave the performance of the century in Monster. I do sometimes wonder where all the Susan Sarandon, Sally Field and Sissy Spacek super fans are though to be fair.

I hate Honorary Oscars. They are apologies from The Academy from royally screwing people out of Oscars time and time again.
