There will be some noticable changes from last season:

The Golden Buzzer will automatically send contestants to the live rounds and not Judgement Week like last year.

Last month the judge auditions took place for a week in New Jersey unlike NYC and LA last year. The live rounds will still take place at Radio City.

The show will only be airing on Tuesday nights until July 1 when it switches to Tuesday and Wednesday. The pre-results recap has been scrapped this year. Looking at the schedule, unless the first two episodes week is more auditions, it looks like these three rounds are returning: An additional 12 in the quarter finals, the Wild Card round, and the YouTube round.

Dunkin’ Donuts replaces Snapple as the main sponsor of the show.

After a pretty bad 9th season, I really wanted a change-up in the judges (namely getting rid of one or both of the women and replacing then with much better judges, like Sharon) but they didn’t, so I am hesitant.

I am going to give AGT one more chance. If they are going to bring the show back to what it was when it was Piers, Sharon and Howie, and then I think we will have some really solid, strong television. However if not, I could let the show I love deeply go, as much as it pains me to do.

Love the show and this is probably very messed up but I really hope there are a slim number of sob stories this season (becuase the last two seasons were full of em)

Mel B needs to go. Heidi is fine and Howie was a suprisingly good judge last season. Howard is the best judge at the moment. Restricting the taped auditions to NJ may or may not have an effect on the quality, and if it’s just another “meh” season for performers overall they have to go back to nationwide auditions.

Upon looking it up, Sharon only left AGT because of a feud that occured on NBC regarding her son on a different show. That show has now been cancelled for a while and I am sure that she would say “yes” to returning had she been given the opportunity, water under the bridge and all that. I am mad that I have to suffer through at least one more season of Mel B’s “Off da chain” remarks and her falling ass-backwards at trying to be hip and cool (though maybe that’s the joke). Heidi’s not bad, I guess but compared to Sharon, she’s still pretty weak. Season 7 (which was the last season to feature Sharon) was the last really good season of the show and I am hoping that this season isn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.

I agree.  they allow them to do that so they can garner more votes.  It’s unfair tot he ones who don’t tell their sad stories.  didn’t they find one guy who told a “sob lie”?  Let’s just let them be judgesd on their talent.  And boy do I agree with getting rid of Mel and Heidi.  Some of their comments tell me they didn’t even watch the balsted performance.

There will be some noticable changes from last season:

The Golden Buzzer will automatically send contestants to the live rounds and not Judgement Week like last year.

This is asking for problems, considering that the Golden Buzzer, by definition, is used when at least two of the judges feel that somebody doesn’t belong on the show.

I don’t think they’re going to have five quarter-final rounds and a YouTube round; that seems to me to be too many semi-finalists.

The official audition site says that auditions are closed, and makes no mention of being able to get in through YouTube this year.

It kills me to see people getting votes for a sob story. This will probably annoy someone but I dont care who has had a tough life, lost a loved one, encountered a bully, had and lost a record deal, etc……just focus on the talent.

I am personally really happy that they decided to revamp the Golden Buzzer so that the acts who recieve it actually go through to the Top 48 instead of just to the next round. The previous season it was like why put in a “Golden Buzzer” if there was no special benefit given to the acts to got them. And by the way, both Dustin’s Dojo and The Hudson Brothers were eliminated in the Vegas rounds before the Top 48 was even announced. Talk about a wasted opportunity!

I’ve been reading a bit about the new season of America’s Got Talent and I have learned that they will air a two-hour retrospective special celebrating the 10th anniversary of AGT. I love retrospective specials, especially when they are about shows/movies I like, so that will be a treat. Also, I learned that instead of a Top 48, it will be a Top 36. There will also be an enhanced Boot Camp round that will last for several weeks instead of just one.

I am mostly liking these changes. Don’t forget that auditions start May 26th, bootcamp round begins July 14th, and the Live Shows with the Top 36 will start August 11th, two days before my birthday!

Trimming a week from the live rounds is really interesting. I assume it works like this:

Quarterfinals: 6 pass each week leaving 18 for the semifinals.
Semifinals: 3 pass each week in shows of 9 for a 6 finale.

They may also bring back the YouTube rounds or the Wild-Card rounds to get it back to the Top 48 (technically), but who knows. I guess we’ll have to watch and see.

Ok group so far. I’m just so tired of the sappy backstories they play before the person goes up to perform. It ruins the mood of the show
